Crosshatching is not something I am very fond of. I am always tempted to resort to shading differently and more traditionally. I do not like this sketch of fruit very much and crosshatching was hard for me. What I needed to do instead was use different grades of pencils to make thicker or lighter lines that would also show dark areas more effectively.
