The first sketch I did was my favorite. It was a simple sketch of my keys and I was able to employ my own sketching techniques I had learned from previous classes. The rest of the semester, the sketches each forced us to use different drawing techniques. I have found myself paying closer attention to details, scale, and lighting since the beginning of the semester. Crosshatching is a technique that I am not fond of but overtime it became easier for me. I frequently found myself spending a lot of time drawing in the library of my sorority. The room has detailed furniture and the lighting is always different. One drawing that I did was a crosshatch drawing that focused on a corner of the room and observing the lighting. To depict the lighting accurately I had to crosshatch more in some spaces and use many different weights of pencils. Another sketch I was happy with was the cross section of fruits. The details in the cross section of the pepper were fun to draw because of all the little seeds. Overall, I felt that the weekly sketches were very helpful maintain my drawing skills throughout the semester. They were a great way to keep improving and prepare for rendering in the sophomore studio.
